Maine Restaurant Week 2012 ? ?The Signature Event? Cocktail ...

Maine Restaurant Week (March 1-10) kicked off this year?s festivities with The Signature Event, a competition / showcase of desserts and cocktails from participating establishments. ?Guests were given bead necklaces of different colors, and voted for their favorite dessert, cocktail, and table arrangement by placing beads of the correct color around the restaurant employees who were working the table.

In addition to this method of voting, 3 judges ? (?John Gertsen?of?No. 9 Park in Boston ? master barman and expert on the history of cocktails, ?Portland?s John Meyers ? regarded as the best bartender in the state and also a cocktail historian, and Shannon Bryan, blogger and content producer at MaineTodayMedia) had the tough task of tasting every drink and making their choice.

Chillwave music thumped lightly in the background as the Portland Harbor Hotel?s function rooms began filling to capacity. Beads began accumulating on the necks of the chefs and restaurant employees working different tables, and things quickly became overwhelming ? Do I try the habanero-infused margarita from Zapoteca first, or the dessert from Standard Baking Co. that I hear is giving people instant orgasms? Ahhh! Choices!

Somehow, I maintained my composure and had one (or ten) of most everything I photographed. The flavors, creativity, and enthusiasm of the participants was amazing. I was reminded once again how lucky I am to live in an area with such a vibrant culinary scene. Enjoy the photos, and be sure to look into Maine Restaurant Week on Facebook to stay up to date on the fixed-price menu specials running for the next 10 days.

HTC One X hits the FCC bound for AT&T

PJ83100
What's thin, pale and sexy as hell? If you answered Twiggy you're close, but wrong. The answer we were looking for is the AT&T version of the HTC One X, which appears to have just swung through the FCC. There's not much to reveal here that we didn't already know. The phone is capable of connecting to AT&T's HSPA+ and GSM networks thanks to the 850MHz and 1900MHz radios, but it'll also be riding along on LTE bands 4 and 17 for some 4G action. The documents also offers radiation levels for the dual-channel 802.11n and Bluetooth radios, as well as provide us with a model number: PJ83100. The final clue to its identity was buried in one of the forms that revealed the phone is running version 4.0.3 of an unidentified firmware -- we'd say it's safe to assume that's in reference to the particular edition of Ice Cream Sandwich on board. If you're a fan of charts, graphs and numbers, hit up the source link.

Look for Spyware Removal Software for Computer

Published by witter | March 1, 2012 | | 1

They have become such a menace in society today. Almost everyone who uses a computer and is on the internet has been affected by spyware some time or another. Many people feel violated by this uninvited act of spying on what you do on the internet. In this regard, you need to look for spyware removal software which will give you everything in one package. I will also be introducing a high quality virus, adware and spyware software that speed up my PC significantly.

It is important to note that most spyware programs do not have any malicious intent. They are written by programmers who are only interested in where you shop and what your favorite websites are. They then sell this to willing buyers who in turn generate keywords accordingly.

There are a myriad of programs that can remove spyware on the internet today.

They do not all offer the same features, but in general they were written to counter the spyware installation programs. So what they essentially do is search your hard drive and detect spyware. They then kill off these programs and free up some disk pace.

There is also ad-ware and dialers that can cause all sorts of conflicting problems on your computer. That is why it is important to find removal software that will get rid of more than just spyware.

Good spyware removal packages will have features such as anti-hacking and virus detecting features as well. The bottom line, you need software that will do more than just remove spyware from your computer. It will wipe it clean of any unwanted files on your system, which is there without your permission.

Having a program such as this, helps you to do your work online or surf the net knowing that there will not be any unwanted snoops lurking around the next megabyte, just waiting for a back door to install itself. When you look for spyware removal software, you need to compare a few packages with each other, so that you make an informed decision. I am glad that all the spyware, adware and Trojan viruses on my computer are all gone now all thanks high quality software which I downloaded.

Obama seeks to shore up support in New Hampshire

(AP) ? President Barack Obama is turning his political sights on New Hampshire, the small but strategically important general election battleground where his campaign hopes to shore up voter support.

Though Obama easily carried New Hampshire in 2008, the president and his surrogates have paid particular political attention to the state in recent months.

Obama is expected to promote his efforts to boost domestic energy production in a speech Thursday in Nashua, N.H. The trip marks the president's second visit to the state in about three months. Vice President Joe Biden has been a frequent visitor to New Hampshire, and first lady Michelle Obama held a conference call with campaign volunteers in the state Wednesday.

In Nashua, Obama was planning to renew his call for Congress to end some $4 billion in annual subsidies for oil and gas companies, aides reported. Obama has said these breaks are unwarranted at a time of burgeoning profits and rising domestic production.

Though New Hampshire offers only four electoral votes in the November election, Democrats have been eying the state warily following its sharp shift to the right in the 2010 midterm elections.

Further fueling concerns for Democrats are GOP front-runner Mitt Romney's personal ties to New Hampshire. Romney served as governor of neighboring Massachusetts, owns a vacation home in New Hampshire and scored an overwhelming victory in the state's Republican primary in January.

However, a poll conducted in New Hampshire in early February showed Obama beating Romney by 10 percentage points in a hypothetical matchup. Other GOP presidential candidates also trailed Obama in the WMUR Granite State poll. It gave Obama an 8-point advantage over Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who is a favorite in libertarian-leaning New Hampshire, and an advantage of more than 20 points over both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.

Dante Scala, a political scientist at the University of New Hampshire, said that with the state's economy on solid footing compared with national trends and the president boosting his presence in the state, some New Hampshire Democrats are starting to feel more confident about their prospects in November.

"There probably was concern among Democrats that maybe New Hampshire is not part of the president's re-election plan," he said. "Now things have kind of reverted back to form in a hurry."

Following his remarks in New Hampshire, Obama planned to travel to New York for four campaign fundraisers.
