NBC affiliate WHEC talks to bus monitor Karen Klein, who was verbally abused by a group of middle school students on a school bus.
By msnbc.com staff
Updated 12:50 a.m. Thursday?ET: Karen Klein, a school bus monitor?of Greece, N.Y., depicted being verbally bullied in a video gone viral, may have the last laugh.
By early Thursday on the fund-raising site indiegogo.com, nearly 5,300 donors had pledged more than $100,000?in a campaign called??Lets Give Karen ? The bus monitor ? H Klein A Vacation.?
The fund-raising was set up through a reddit.com member, identified as Max Sidorov of Toronto, Canada.
An Indiegogo spokesperson told msnbc.com that the?website was in?touch with Klein, who will?receive all?the money raised through its site when the campaign is over, scheduled July 20.
A?video called "Making the Bus Monitor Cry"?was posted to YouTube?on Monday and had been seen by more than 100,000 viewers by Wednesday evening. The video shows students yelling at Klein and making fun of her weight and other physical conditions.
Graphic content warning: The video on YouTube?
NBC television station WHEC of Rochester, N.Y., on Wednesday confirmed with the Greece School District that Klein was the subject of the middle school students? heckling.
An outpouring of support for Klein emerged after her identity became known.
While WHEC was interviewing Klein, the station reported, people were stopping over and flowers were being delivered.
Klein said she still can?t believe this happened.?The video was taken by a student who is always very kind to her, she said.
?It?s just plain mean, and no one should have to live with that,? she said.
In her 20-plus years as a bus driver and monitor with the Greece Central Schools, Klein said she has never run into this kind of behavior.

?Everything started out as usual. I don?t know what happened,? she said.
Klein said the four kids in the video often misbehave, but what happened Monday was taking things to a whole new level.
Greece police and school district officials are investigating three videos, including the one titled "Making the Bus Monitor Cry."?
Debra Hoeft, Greece School District, said, ?We do not tolerate harassment of staff or students. While we can not comment on specific student discipline, we can say that students found to be involved will face strong disciplinary actions.?
In one of the videos, the kids are calling her names, swearing at her and even making physical threats. Klein doesn?t say much to the middle schoolers.
?I was trying to just ignore,? Klein said. ?I?m hoping they would go away, but it doesn?t work.?
Klein said she didn?t know about the video until Wednesday morning, and watched it for the first time at the police station when she went to help them with their investigation.
Klein told WHEC she plans to return to work but not on a bus carrying those students.

Since making the decision to sell its own brand smartphone as opposed to unbranded ones for carriers, ZTE has been making huge headway. This latest offering, the Grand X LTE (T82) is the companies first single chip LTE smartphone and could well go down a storm in certain markets.
Specs wise the Grand X LTE is pretty impressive, sporting a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, an 8 megapixel rear camera, capable of shooting and playing back video in full 1080p HD and a front camera with 720p powers. It's 1900 mAp battery is said to be 'large capacity' by ZTE, however I come from the UK and unfortunately we are still lacking LTE technology here so whether this will get you through the day I have no idea.
ZTE smartphones tend to be very reasonably priced here in the UK. I wonder if things will be so keen in Asia and the rest of Europe?

A disaster recovery plan is an important component of a manual business operations of companies and many are adding a new chapter in mobile management. Nobody expects a disaster, but the situation may be difficult to prevent. With hurricane season here, companies strive to update their disaster recovery plans and business continuity. It?s like a mobile phone management program within these plans, a smart move or a separate solution is used to address each issue?
AT&T Study Reveals Importance of Mobile Management
AT&T recently conducted its annual business continuity survey, polling 504 IT executives throughout the country. Sixty-seven percent of the respondents indicated the inclusion of wireless network capabilities in business continuity plans. Thirty-eight percent are investing in cloud computing for various reasons including cost savings, performance, and security. Six out of every ten respondents are making a mobile security service investment, most listing a potential security breach as a pressing concern.
The increased use of mobile devices and their potential threats concerns 87 percent of respondents. Social networking is an even stronger concern than security-based threats. Clients are looking for mobile security solutions that can be controlled from one platform. They are also taking a proactive approach, with two-thirds taking measures during government alerts or testing their plans within the past year to ensure smooth operation in the event of a disaster.
In addition to securing mobile devices, IT executives are faced with managing these. This task can be difficult enough to do on a daily basis and nearly impossible after disaster strikes. Using a cloud-based service allows them to continue monitoring device use remotely if the office is affected by a disaster. Nearly half of them are using cloud-based disaster recovery services and many are now looking to the cloud for ongoing device management.
Mobile Management Complicated by All-Encompassing Solutions
Making this approach more complicated is the fact that many solutions providers attempt to be all things to all business clients. Broad programs covering cloud security, disaster recovery, business continuity, and even management of mobile devices. This results in a solution that may be enough to comply with relevant regulations but is lacking in terms of effective management of mobile devices and even worse off when it comes to preventing a basic security attack.
With natural and man-made threats facing them on a daily basis, IT managers need to take a different approach. They should look for separate solutions that feature comprehensive metrics and are customized for each desired purpose. For example, a separate solution for management of mobile devices and disaster recovery is recommended. Each should feature a program designed to measure its effectiveness. For example, device management programs should include cost savings analysis reports.
Organizations must determine which threats they are most vulnerable to, be these financial or security-related. By selecting a customized solution for each issue, they break a complex environment down into manageable components. If they regularly measure the effectiveness of the programs, they will always know how well they are addressing their exposures.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana?s NewsCenter) - The Northeastern Rural Electric Membership Corp. asks customers to conserve energy.
The warmer it gets outside the more strain is put on energy grids. This has caused Northeastern REMC to issue a peak demand alert to decrease some of the usage.
The utility company serves parts of six counties, including Allen, Noble, Huntington, Wabash and a good portion of Whitley County.
Northeastern REMC serves about 27,000 homes and businesses. They are asking customers to hold off on non-essential usage such as running dishwashers between the peak demand hours of 5 and 8 p.m.
They are not asking customers to turn off the air conditioning, but to do what they can to conserve energy during those peak hours.
Indiana Michigan Power is also not asking customers to cut back, but say conservation is never a bad idea. They are postponing any maintenance until after the heat wave passes.
I&M set a record for usage last July 21 during the two to three weeks of 90 degree weather. Therefore, while this stretch has been hot, it has not been a record.
