UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN STICKS AROUND

CHANCE OF STORMS OVERNIGHT

After yesterday?s flooding rains over parts of North Texas, the atmosphere remains muggy and fairly unstable.? We are expecting a complex of thunderstorms to develop over western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle late this afternoon.? The upper level winds are coming at us from the northwest and that will push those storms toward North Texas during the overnight hours.? The storms should arrive in the Metroplex after 3am and could linger through the morning commute.

There is a SLIGHT RISK for severe storms, mainly for the NW quarter of North Texas, including the Metroplex.? The best chance for severe storms will be to our northwest, but some of the storms as they arrive here could be strong with coin size hail and up to 60 mph winds.? Heavy rainfall is also possible in pockets and that could lead to a few areas of street flooding in the morning.? Storms should weaken and go away altogether by late morning.

POP-UP AFTERNOON STORMS REST OF THE WEEK

After Tuesday morning?s storms dissipate, we should see some sun during the afternoon.? Because the airmass overhead is still going to be unstable, expect a few pop-up, isolated storms to develop with peak heating during the afternoon.? Expect similar conditions each day for the rest of the week?no major cold fronts or upper disturbances heading our way?just randomly placed, afternoon thunderstorms.

?

PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS WEEKEND

If you had plans to be at TMS this weekend, or anything else outdoors for that matter, it looks like we?re going to experience several episodes are strong thunderstorm activity.? A cold front will approach North Texas late in the week and then become stationary over North Texas for the weekend.? This will allow focus for thunderstorms to form on as strong upper level disturbances pinwheel in from the west.? A large trough of low pressure is forecast to hang out over the Four Corners area thru Monday.? This is leading to a very wet forecast, with possible multiple occurrences of severe weather and/or flooding.
